MY excuse: I have only JUST got my computer back from it being fixed... and fifteen days isn't that long is it?? Well, perhaps it is...
Nevertheless, vegan news. I contacted the society in the Glasgow University (vegan society) and they still haven't got back to me, which is annoying. So I was thinking of starting up a vegetarian yum yum society, where we eat and make each other food and go out and explore vegetarian retaurants... yum
So yese, i will be returning definitely to vegetarianism after these strange period of my life. I don't think i could cope with being a vegan for my whole entire life. I respect those greatly who can, but I cannot. My sister is finding it hard to cook for me when I am at hers, and despairs sometimes. The other day her lovely flat mate made us cookies, and I had to refuse them. Cookies :( Cake is also a problem. And cheese. I really love cheese and now I cannot eat it right now. How vexing!
Other things: I found out Halls vegetarian haggis is made without anything milky. awesome eh? So I had that. And ate it Yum. Most of quorn stuff, actually ALL of quorn stuff has egg in it, which just sucks. Percy pigs from Marks and Sparks has gone back to having pork geletine in it, which is ironic as well as being darn annoying. I am writing a lot of crazy poetry about cows and bacon and I smelt sausage rolls the other day in Kelvingrove park which made my mouth utterly water. I have not lived in Tchai Ovna as I thought I would, but nevermind.
Vegetarian burgers are vegan, as are these sweets I have recently discovered, sugar coated things which are amazing and were the only thing I could eat at my last theatre seminar group. Loads of folk brought food, Sophie even went out and bought chocolate raisins for the vegetarians, and I felt so guilty that she had gone through the trouble and I couldn't eat it...
But anyhow. I sit here with my cheerios (and soya milk) and am about to go to tchai ovna... i went yesterday too, but that is still not living there. :D

The development of BEING
SO veganism has become more of a comfort, now, than a chore. It is not as hard as I thought. To be honest I was finding it hard to eat but now it is easy to think of recipes. I have spent hours wondering through supermarkets to find the vegetarian and milk-free food - always check the ingredients - and have so far found tortillas, dahl, soy-mix, cheese which tastes disgusting (soya cheese).
Two restaurants: first, to the pub The Old School House, where I went to the bar and asked "I am really going to be difficult". The woman looked worried. I smiled, and said "I am vegan". She went pale. Then I asked "Mind if I have the vegetarian wraps without the cheese. She looked at the menu and found them, then smiled herself. "Easy enough," she said, and spent another five minutes tapping away on the screen to send the order, to make sure they didn't use any milk or eggs. Grr.
Second... I cannot remember right now ... but I definitely went out. I had popcorn at the cinema, which is fine. Wait, did I go out? I don't know. Hmmmm... Last night I had fajitas for dinner with this new sweet and sour mix which was a stir fry sauce thing, and watched doctor who because I was depressed about my broken computer. It was tasty. Today I made some macoroni with soy-milk sauce. Then I grilled it. Macoroni cheese without cheese.

My computer
So yesterday my computer died. My lovely Shakespeare did not like my new game (I bought Medieval Sims... the best game EVER) or something and gave me the blue screen of doom and gloom, and death.
On a vegan front I have been gorging on this great new thing I found in the University, called "vegan slice" which is a basic flapjack but gorgeous. That anda hot drink comes to £2. Yehyyyyy go veganism" I have also found out the date of easter, which is the 9th of thereabouts ,and will thus have a cake and stuff your face wth cream party on that day/. Yummm
SO yeah, I went to my favourite bagel and coffee house, Australian style, and could not get cream cheese so had to suffice with soya latte (artistcally in a glass) and chilly jam. as in chilli. Which is awesome. It is not actually cold. Its rather hot, as in the spicy sense- wait, why is it called chilli then??? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD??!!!
I ate salad. Again. and almonds. yum

HMV and salad
So I have discovered a great new wee restaurant in Glasgow city centre. I say "we" discovered, rather I was shown by Julia, my best Norwegian friend, who has taught me, or is in the process of teaching me, Norwegian. And I say "I" but actually there were three of us (four including Julia) and we went and had pizza. Apart from me, because, unlike pizza hut at Bread and Butter they do not make vegan pizza. Actually, most of the stuff is meaty, and uber cheesy. So I had ... the salad woo hoo!!!
And left the caesar sauce, because, according to the wifi accessed by my lovely Hemmingway (ie. moi's kindle) it has parmessan (however you spell it) cheese within, and thus, none so passed mine lips. I spake such, and continue for I have bought somesuch unto and forto mine self, that is called "Sims Medieval" and has not yet, but is going to very soon, rule my life.
Oh dear. Sims and Medieval mixed ... did they know I existed when they made it? did they make it with me in mind... I am beginnign to think I am being stalked. I have also found Fable III for the computer.
I have, thus, sold my soul. Not literally, I mean metaphorically. And not to the demons below. Rather to the demons on the earth aka the media. Doom and gloom. We all die.
The end.

A few days
I realise I haven't posted for a few days... that's mainly down to my laziness.
I haven't done many vegan related things actually. I am about to make more vegan slice and I am at my parents house. There is also a giant fly staring at me beadily... reminds me of a poem I once wrote about flies being besotted with me.
Vegan-ness... Okay so I am better. That is mainly due to my buying of almonds (which I have stupidly forgotten this weekend) and my high consumption of extra vitamins etc. Almonds, like other pulses etc are full of protein and other scrumptious things. Yum yum, which are good for me to eat yum. The other thing is I can eat popcorn, as long as it is salted or plain as it comes from maize. So that makes the workld better. I also made a HUGE lot of mashed potato, which is sitting in my fridge and waiting for me to DEVOUR it. Because I am Jam Dinosaur (copyright on that - I made jam dinosaur up).
The only thing I am having to do right now is sleep a hell of a lot more. I haven't really been out recently in the evenings due to my significant lack of energy but all is well that keeps a person alive. And alive I am. I even managed a leap of joy yesterday. Oh yes.

Humous!!!
Today me and my lovely friend Emily made humous!!! It took a while and some expensive tahini (made from seasame seeds apparently) from waitrose but we eventually got a really nice tasting one. We also had a discussion about philosophy, in a way because I go to philosophy lectures ... even if I don't actually technically take the subject.
Last night I got a wonderful receipe from a very kind person who posted on my wall on how to make a type of vegan milkshake - thanks to them!! I also found many recipes on similar websites on how to make vegan slice - a high-energy choclate yummy yummy thing which I made and is amazing!!! It uses oil and water to bind it rather than egg :)
So today I have been a little bit better. My stomach was not well last night which meant I had to lie in bed for most of the evening :( but that meant catching up on LOTS of good television such as Being Human :D
So hope you are all well. And eating safe!!!

PS; I live on Vine leaves (food item)

V-v-v-veganism and illness
So yes, found out today that my health has been deteriorating a rather big bit due to my veganism. I am silly, call me silly if you must because I think I am, but bascially I am not eating properly. So, I am going to start taking many supplements and going to eat lots of vegan slice (a fantastic iron-heavy thing made from oats and dates) and dolmades (ie stuffed vine leaves).
There is a tea house down from me, on Otago Lane, called Tchai Ovna, which only serves vegetarian food and the majority of them are vegan, so I am going to live in there from now on. It is open from 11 to 11 (as in am to pm) and so I can eat eat eat and listen to jazz all day. Hooray.
I used to have pretty bad IBS and it still comes back if my diet or my lifestyle changes dramatically. I guess becoming vegan counts as that, so I am not feeling great. But at least I have a stack of drugs in the drawer. And I am going to lower my intake of alcohol. Well, I did have a dram last night. But it was Glen Fiddich (only £2.50!!!) which doesn't count since it is so amazing!!!
Another thing I am wanting to do is, because I am going to mad with this vegan thing, is raise money for charity through it. So, if you are reading this and want to sponsor me (the money will go to planting trees in Brazil or something similar) then give me a buzz via email ( ailsacorinne@gmail.com ) and we can sort something out!!!
Thanks! Ailsa aka Smidgeon aka Yonder Bovine Hero
